Well, here's an E39 M5 with a Remus exhaust system. Same set-up I had on my car, but can't find my personal vids on this computer for some reason.

Even the V8 530i counts to me.
Related - can anyone think of a smaller V8 made since BMW made the 3.0L M60B30 in the 90s? Not just BMW, but any car company that made a mass produced small V8? Not even Ferrari made a smaller V8 in limited numbers at that time.
I always thought it was cool that BMW made that small V8. It might not be very fast but something about a tiny V8 seems right to me. It's so small and light and good for handling.

Well, technically: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_OHV_V…

I didn't know about it either until I did some research before my last post. That engine came first and I don't think anyone has made a smaller V8 since the 3.0L mill in the 90s. I love engines with tiny cylinders :)
I wish BMW would bring back a straight 6 in the 2-2.5L range. It would run smoother and sound better than the 2.0L 4 cylinder. And since the turbo charged engines have so much power and keep getting more powerful with each iteration a small turbo I6 would be plenty fast for the mainline 2 and 3 series. And then we could have TT V8s in the 3-4L range.

Probably a better chance of being hit by lightning than seeing a new BMW 2-2.5L N/A I6. We can dare to dream =)

Oh yeah the N/A I6 isn't going to happen, I know that :( They're not going to have any new N/A engines ever again ;(
I wish they'd at least make a smaller turbo I6. Like a middle model in between the 328i and 335i. The price increase for the 335i is so much that only enthusiasts buy it. So most new 3 Series are sold with the 2.0L straight 4. Which limits options when buying one used. I wish there was a 2.5L turbo I6 priced in between the 328i and the 335i that people actually bought. I don't think it would cannibalize the 335i because those that want the fastest engine they can buy short of the M3/M4 engine will go for it if they have the money.

You mean like something along the lines of...a 330? Great idea!
Seriously though, I miss the 330.

Exactly. And if we go back even farther to the E36 days there were so many options. We didn't get all three of these but I believe parts of Europe did:
1.8L I4, 2.0L I6, 2.5L I6 (later replaced with 2.8L I6)
It was cool when buyers got the choice between the economy 4 banger, the economy straight six, or the big straight six. Those that wanted straight six goodness but couldn't afford the purchase price or gas of the biggest engine could get the little six.
Then when the E46 came out Europe got to choose between more engines as well. When the 330 came out here I think the 325 was the lowest model we could get, but Europe probably had the 1.8L I4 and 2.0L I6 alongside the 325 and 330.
